i looking for you guys input on what the differences are of a stock rebuilt //rebuilt van // a h2e // 38r // truck doesn't tow much now light if anything.daily driver (better mileage than my 429) always drove performance stuff except this truck ! ive managed to keep it all stock for 260k but now that ive stumbled in here and learned these motors. and im in need of some maint soon at the min pulling and rebuilding turbo / inj / hpop /up pipes as these have never been touched! so i got to spend money any way so im debating rebuild same stock or turbo and inj ect.. all was stock till 8 months ago since then ive done new ucvh's w/50 cent mod and new gps and torqued all // all new boots // // ccv // oil cross over // fuel x over // 6637 // black cps // gauges oil press / hpop press / fuel press / boost / pyro / volt / also did the in tank mods and a Baldwin fuel filter before a new bosch pump.tell me the good things and bad about the different turbos please. but i want to keep the reliability there.
Well I am still running a stock E99 turbo so I dont have much say on the topic as far as experience with actually running any of the turbos you stated but it all depends on what your plans are for the truck. What is your goal for HP and are you going to continue using this truck for daily driving only? do you want a daily driver that hauls *** or are you going to race it?
I am personally going to go with the GTP-38R. I have looked into the van turbos and the d66 drop in turbo, and the H2E. The 38r fits where I want my truck to end up. I would suggest the 38R.
possibly jim i guess im trying to decide to build or not . every thing ive ever had has never had enough power ! and ive had stuff that pulled the frt end up a few feet or more, more than once not in this truck though .
u think the h2e is the answer for you
it has much more room for growth after the fact then the stock set up does
i went with a t4 set up because i never have ENOUGH

bryce, so your running a tuner on a early 99 with a 6637 and a 4in ext. whats the difference? yea just when i decided to go back stock clay put that kit out and im drooling on it now.
bryce the d66 will fit ur needs too
beans just did 500 hp on a 99.5 model d66
i did 333 on a early van turbo with stock injector and now fuel pressure
Ya I know that the beans is a drop in but i just wonder if the end result of buying a drop in and stage II's and all the other mods I want is going to be enough ha. That 99.5 set up you were talking about ran a 500hp huh? Thats pretty sweet. But I wonder what I would get for an increase in HP and PSI with the e99 drop in.
What other mods did you have on that truck with the van turbo on it? What did you run before the van turbo?
sorry- not trying to hijack your thread. But it is turbo reated i suppose
the h2e is a t4i setup and a garrett gt4294 is a t4
the t4 /t4i refers to the exhaust flange style
unlike your stock baby;s but the t 4/t4i set ups are bolt on
the t4/t4i set ups give you many more options to grow into
say a gt4294 has a t4 but u can replace it with a gt4202 by just replacing a turbo they mount the same

That is correct!
Big difference. example: Night and day.
I didnt do them all at once so i got to feel what each mod did along the way which was cool. But overall, the mods that I did made it a whole new truck.
I havn't ran a dyno so I dont know what I am getting or what I had but there is a huge difference.
