I am about to get tires for my 2006 F-250 4x4 this weekend. I am between the BFG TA/KO's and the Firestone Destination AT's. Any thoughts / opinions between the two. I am probably 90% on road 10% off. I have had the destinations before and liked them but the only reason i didnt get the TA/KO's was because of the additional cost.
The truck is stock and tire stores are telling me that the biggest i can go is 275-70-17 but i have heard of people putting 295-70-17's on and having slight rub issues. Could I get away with a 285-70-17?
If anyone has pics of these tires on a truck that would be much appreciated too.
Also as a general ? when you make a thread or reply to a thread is there a way to pull up a list of threads you are a part of?
I have a 05 4x4 with the 17" wheels and run the 285-70 with no problems. And I have a new set that I will be putting on in the next week or two that at 295's.
As for tires I currently have 60,000 on my Bfg ta/ko's but they are shot. I would have gotten the same tires again except for price (Love the tires but not the price). The set I have to put on are hankoock(sp) dynapro's. I guess I will see how they last....
I have an 05 King Ranch with the 18" wheels. I run the Cooper Discoverer ATRs with great success. Get a lot of miles and much better quality and balance than any of the others.
had a set of destination mt on an 05 dodge diesel, put 35,000 on them , rotated them every 6000 and they had 50% left. excellent tire , great sidewall, not to loud.better than the bfg, and i believe that bfg is not the same company anymore. compound way to soft for a big truck. weak sidewalls, not the same tire that made their name famous. just my opinon
I would love to find a tire that I could get more than 12,000 mi. out of them.
Just put a set of GY durotrac's on yesterday. The first set I had only got 11,000 mi. out of them but got a dealer 40,000 mi. warranty and paid only $67 a piece ea. to try them again. hope I'll get more out of this set, love the looks of them and handle great.
mt's are not that loud, excellent on the road( i thought), pretty decent in the snow. had the 285-75-. and loved them. just dont make them in the 20's. look for firestone deals, bought them they had buy 3 get one free. .... $750 out the door
i run 315/70/R17s BFG TA/KO's on mine with no issues. The truck came with them and i don't have the slightest idea when the PO put them on. I've only put a couple thousand miles on it so far but they have been wearing well and do quite well off road.
IMO there isn't much to compare here. The Firestones are cheaper, but they won't do nearly as well in wet weather. Especially snow. Also I never got more than 30k outta a set of Firestone versus 40k or better on the BFG/AT's
I've had a set of BFG All Terrains on my truck for a couple of years now. The mileage is good but they SUCK in the snow. I plow with my truck and compared to the Mud T/A's that I had previously, there is a world of difference. I should have heeded the warnings about the All Terrains that siad they were not rated for snow. I just looked at the tread and thought to myself, Hey that's a pretty good tread...it should be fine! NOT! The truck felt like it was on ball bearings in slushy stuff! I'm going back to the Mud Terrains for this winter.

What the hell are you talking about? Ko`s are about the best thing out there for the snow. Even if you sipe the m/t`s they are still marginal at best. Big lugs are for mud, not snow.
