OK, so its not electrical, but we don't have an "instruments and dash" category (but should have!). The speedo cable on my 63 F100 223 three speed is held in the trans by a clip and bolt. I removed thebolt and clip, and can't seem to get the thing to pull out of the trans. I tried some pliers and a gentle tap with a hammer, but its tight. Do I get more aggressive? The factory manual doesn't help. Is there a trick? Does it twist? Also, will my little drive gear be accessible then, or how do I get it out? Thanks.
All the ones I removed just pulled out??????? Maybe if you soak it with a good penetrant it will loosen up some. It could be corroded to the tranny.
The speedo gear, once again if my "rememberer" works, just pulls out to replace it.
There may be an O-ring on the end of the cable, to keep the fluid in the tranny. O-rings can get old and sticky. I'd try some more force, and maybe a twist.
The speedo driven gear should be held onto the end of the speedo cable with a clip. It should come out when/if you get the cable out.

Yup. It came on out, just needed a bit more coaxing. I guess it was in there a long time. Now to find that cable! No one seems to have it in stock, although XXX sent me one-but it was wrong-it had the screw on end at the tranny.
