ok so i cannot find my leak anywhere. its not a drip here and there... when i park it leaves a puddle the size of a saucer plate. so i have decided to try using a dye of some sort to try and pinpoint where it is coming from. i really dont like the idea of the dye mixing in with the oil and running through the motor but i am about out of ideas. and if i do have a leak from a major component i will pull the motor but not if i dont have to.
here is a list of what i know its not:
valve cover/gasket
oil rail end plug
hpop
oil rail plugs
turbo pedastal
oil pan (when the clutch cover rubs a hole in it)
fuel pump/bowl (i know its not oil but diesel looks like oil once it makes its way to the bottom of the motor)
do you guys suggest one brand or type over another at dyes? i dont mind spending a little more on a higher quality brand, esp if it is rated for the PSD's.
I'd look over the oil cooler. Where its at, its hard to tell its leaking because the fan blows everything everywhere.
I didn't even know mine was leaking because I had another leak leaking over top of the oil cooler. Thought I fixed my leaks, and its still leaking, cause of the oil cooler.
It gathers on the pan and drips from the pan, so it made it hard to find.
A few times with the power washer helped me find it.
