Freeze plug
Freeze plug
So I noticed I was leaking some coolant in my driveway. I checked all of the usual suspects hoses, clamps, water pump, radiator etc. and all were dry. I had a friend come by to look at it cuz I was stumped. He crawled up underneath and told me one of my freeze plugs was leaking. I looked were he was pointing and there it was dripping away. So my question is how hard are they to change and about how much should it cost me? I have a 97 4.2L V-6.
Turns out its not a freeze plug. After looking at it closer I decided to have my coolant system pressure checked. The test showed that I have three leaks, both intake manifold gaskets are leaking and a very tiny leak in the radiator. I have to decide if I wanna spend the money to repair the truck or just sell it. If I decide to repair this myself what exactly will I need? Thanks for the help.
For some reason my truck isnt leaking anymore. I was concerned since it was no longer leaking on my driveway that it was leaking into my engine but the fluid level in my resevoir has not changed. It seems that after I had it pressure checked by a mechanic it has stopped leaking. I dont believe the problem just fixed itself. Anyone have any ideas or comments on this?
