So the trucks all done, body work and all. Paint is done. Everything works. I have a few issues but nothing big. I have but one question. Anyone have any ideas on how to make the back window go up quicker. I have all new parts. New motor. Ect. Ect. But the SOB goes up real slow. or sometimes it just stops. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?
When you had the bodywork done they probably didn't align the top right. What I did was loosen all the bolts so I could slide my top 1-inch or so in all directions finding the right alignment for the rear window to go up and down. Once I found that I tightened the bolts back up and haven't had a problem.
You can try to lubricate the glass regulator and side tracks with some teflon or silicone grease. There was also a guy in one of the Bronco sites that used a plexiglass replacement for the rear window. I think he got it from JEG's and cut it out. Just a couple of ideas!
Definately check striker post alignment and the window tracks inside the gate. I have heard people recommend lubing the window and channels with something but have always been reluctant to get anything greasy all over the window. if the channles are in good condition and properly aligned, the window should move pretty well.
One thing I did note when I replaced the rubber end blocks on the left and right sides of the T-gate was that the right hand (pass. side) one hadn't been trimmed very well and the extra bit of rubberwas catching on the window as it came down and rolling under against the glass. (And they are Ford parts not aftermarket). This slowed the glass a LOT. Trimmed the rubber block to match the other side and everything moves great now.
