Fellow V10 owners...I want to test the fuel pressure on my '08 V10 but am having a hell of a time locating the connection point for a pressure gauge. I see nothing on the rails or lines in the engine compartment, and cannot find anything on this in the service manual, at least not the one I have from Chilton. I did find a pressure/voltage table that the sensor uses, so maybe I need to hook a DVM up and do it that way ??? Makes no sense though.
In anycase, what is the standard method out there for gauging your fuel pressure?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
None that I could find. Was looking for something similar to the schrader like valve that is on my wifes engine. The only thing I can think is to remove the FRPS and install an adapter with a connection point on it. As far as removing pressure from the system, the procedure for that seems to be just disconnect the fuel pump then turn the engine over a few times. In fact, thats how the manual tells you to do it and everything I found online corresponds to that. It works, I removed pressure that way when I replaced the fuel filter and it went really smooth. The FRPS looks like it pops out real easy, I'll poke around and see if there is an adapter out there I can buy.
That's the way I relieve pressure from the system too... pull the fuel pump fuse.
However, it sets a code in the PCM for "low fuel pump circuit" or some such. But anyway...
Let us know if there is an adapter, that would be a good thing to know.
So far it appears like Ford no longer provides the port for this check. Instead, you need to disconnect the fuel line from the rail. I found where actron sells a kit for this specific purpose and comes with the necessary adapters>>>Actron®
I got the truck right now at a local place to get the PCM codes read for other issues. They said they would take a look and let me know the best way to test the fuel pressure. The mechanic was surprised to hear I couldn't find it, but I'm guessing they haven't got a lot of these newer V10's in yet since most 08's are just now starting to come off warranty.
