I HAVE A 2003 F-250 7.3, A/C is warm after a few minutes, leave it off and turn back on it is cool agin for a few minute.Cutch gap is correct and system has ben evacuated and recharge,I replace the high pressure switch and it worked for a day if i jump the the high pressure switch(i know it is risky)the clutch kicks in .Is there a spec for the switch ot could there actually be a restriction,I have never gotten and real high readings
The HP switch should open around 450 psi and should close back again around 250-275 psi. You need to determine what the actual pressures as they will give a good indication of what's wrong.
with the compressor engaged it runs 124 highside and pegs the Matco gauges on the low side past 250. With the system off it is equal at about 124. The clutch will kick off after a few minutes. My friend is a John deere mechanic thinks it is the compressor.
Also check the condenser (the radiator thingy in front) to be sure that it is clean and not to damaged. Also check the fan clutch to be sure that it is not worn out.
The readings are backwards but that is what they are reading and he has not convinced me the compressor is bad. I think thers are two problems one maybe the clutch and possibly a blockage,I have put the recovery machine on it twice and the charge is correct.
