packing up to head to Mitchell, SD. Truck is not DOA. The light just started flashing Thurs. night as we were leaving Mt. Rushmore.

Talked to Dave this morning. He figured it was a 50/50 crapshoot on whether or not we'll make it home. If we get stuck, I'll make him responsible ... he can tow us home with his 6.0! J/k .. we've got AAA. My FIL is also going to follow us and pull the camper to Mitchell for us to save on the tranny. That will help on the hills in the western part of the state. He'll drive back and pick up MIL and their camper tomorrow and head for home (Montana).

This is a sad day ... the '96 Dodge Dakota (FIL Truck) is going to outrun the F250 Diesel.

I'll be in St. James tomorrow and Wednesday. If you only make it to the MN/SD border, I could probably come get you home. Though, it would be ANOTHER Dodge to the rescue

Hey Kyle, glad to see you are alive and well. Hope the job hunt goes well.

Michael, its ok if the dodge has to pull the camper, as long as it doesn't pull you. Then we have something to talk about. lol. Good luck!

Ok, I need to quit bragging up Ford and telling everyone what truck I want. My buddy called me and told me he has an opportunity to buy a '06 F350 KR CC LB with 150K for $18K. He said his BIL bought it from John Weise and its been in for everything (including washer fluid). He just went and ordered up his new truck (all $70K worth) and is going to sell his '06. He is going to bring it by this week and have me look at it. Anything I should pay close attention to?

Same things as we did on the other two. I think you've got a good feel for all the basics. Big things are the motor, trans. If you can believe this guy, sounds pretty good...

Well the 6.0 was kinda hit and miss it either bombed or it excelled and never had problems. as far as I can recall there were never any major problems just small stuff that would chain mail with each other. If he has been bringing it to John Weise for everything then there shold be no problems. If you are in doubt have your BIL go to the dealer and pull his service records.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a Jasper trans with a 10 foot pole.

I agree with Mike. Jasper is badddddd....

Find a place that will use a Tri-Star Trans. They make great stuff, and have a 3 year, unlimited mileage warranty...

That, or if it is for a PSD, BTS would only be another 1K or so. So wishing I had gone that route instead........................

i told him that a BTS would be my first choice but they arent local at all. ill see if theres any other places around. hell ill even put the 6.0 cooler in if thats all they meant by putting a better cooler in
