Soooooo....why can't you sit in a beach chair, under an umbrella, smoke your cigar, and drink your scotch?

What? Oh, come on man! Hey, you could put the chair down by the water, and let the water come up and cool your feet!

No offense, But I'm not sure I would want to sit on a rock if that water had been on it...... It sure looks nasty... Was that after a storm or something?

See now - when I was stationed in Norfolk (LOCAL Pronunciation tip: NOFF'K)
(SUFFOLK pronounced similarly)
I dived off of Virginia beach with snorkel gear. ~It was the most disappointing experience in the water of all time...

Because the wave action and old built up shell sediment is so thick in the water YOU CAN NOT see your hand, or even your wrist - at three meters of depth anywhere near the surf line. It's impossible. EVEN ON A SUNNY DAY!!!

THAT TO ME is scary.

And you come out of the water with all kinds of crap all over you....

There is no comparison at all to, say - Fiesta Island in Mission Bay San Diego.
You can see EVERYTHING in Mission Bay, even paddling around on the surface you can see the bottom like crystal!
