Just got home from Washington. Drove up Thursday night, left my house about 8:30 PM after having some overheating problems with the Rover and had to switch vehicles at the lat minute, borrowing a (gasp!) Avalanche to make the trip. I drove straight through as the folks riding with me had no towing experience and I didn't feel like having them get some while on the edge of exhaustion. Pulled into Bonny Lake around noon, having stopped at a rest area north of Medford for about a two-hour nap. Then, one of our group had a job interview in SF this morning at 9:30 so we pulled out of Washington at about 7:10 last night and drove straight through. We weren't pulling the trailer this time (left it in Washington) so we were able to drive a little faster and switch off drivers this time. Still made for a long trip and I'm beat. We didn't even have time to drop me off at my place, it was too far out of the way so we drover right to SF and then I came back home from there, adding a good 4 hours more to the trip. Bleah.
Going back again this weekend but not in so much of a rush, and staying up there for the entire week camping and sightseeing.
My truck should be home by the end of the week (maybe today!). My mechanic has to rebuild the carburetor & hook up the throttle linkage & she'll be good to go. Finally!
She sounds good too! She doesn't have a dragster lope like I was hoping. I guess it's more of a (stock)smooth, throaty sound because of the mufflers. LOL! Oh well, one step at a time & she'll eventually be the truck I dream of.
