Hey guys
was wondering of anybdy had experiance with GT40 heads on a 302. I was thinking cast iron GT40 "p" heads for a moderate build, 208/214 duration cam, with hyraulic lifters, 1.6 ratio roller rockers, Edelbrock preformer 302 intake, 525cfm Edelbrock carb, headers, dual exhaust. any advice?
I am trying to keep the milage decent if anyone has info let me know.
I had those heads on my mustang. They are great heads that helped me run 13.02@103.4 with the stock intake. One problem with them is that you need specific headers for them because of the angle of the spark plugs. If you don't mind getting new headers I think they are one of the best heads for torque.
Thanks, I currently don't have headers, its in completly stock condition but when the engine is built headers are in the plan. What type of headers will fit? I am putting the engine into a 1970 F100, manual steering so their is lots of space.
I appreciate your reply, info on Ford stuff is kinda hard to get up here. I love this site!
Hey I had the FMS shrorties on my mustang and I know MAC makes shorties that fit. I am not sure if there are any longtubes that fit but you may be able to get some to work by using shorter spark plugs and dimpling the headers.
hey brother i put headers on my 302 in a 71 p/u... flowtech is in-exspensive @ $100... the drivers side goes in great but you will have to diconnect the pass side motor mount and lift it... now if you have a c-4 tranny , you might have some exhaust problems to deal with because the cross member is about 8-10" from the collectors. good luck!
