4WD is expensive but worth every penny when you need it.

I don't go looking for mud, but I seem to find it from time to time when out hunting, camping. I tow a boat 18" Alumacraft. $WD is always handy on boat ramps. Most boat ramps in out of the way places are pretty iffy.

When not towing, I seem to get about 17 mpg in city and 20 highway mpg.

I just saw the 2015 towing Capacity on the Ford F150, V6, with eccoboost.
Tow rating increased over the 2014 Model as the 14 Year did not have eccoboost (aka Turbo Charge)
The Torque is dramatically increased on the 2015 as well.
Now shows 375 lbs of torque compared to prior year of 278 lbs of torque.
Almost 35% increase in torque.
That should help out greatly in my Ramp issues.

I don't believe torque is going to be as big a contributing factor as good tires, 4x4 and some form of limited slip.

I am also on the Gulf Coast and some of these ramps can get pretty slimy and have hidden pot holes.

If you want to have some fun, hang around a boat ramp and watch people launch and retrieve boats.

You sound confused. The V6 and ecoboost are two different engines completely. V6 is 3.7 liters in displacement while the ecoboost is only 3.5. There is a lot more going on with the ecoboost than merely slapping on a couple of turbos. The Eco's HP and torques specs are also 360 HP and 420 lb/ft. I'm not sure where you are getting these numbers from.

They are doing away with the 3.7 in 2015. There will be a N/A 3.5 and a Ecoboost 3.5

Louisiana must have been speaking strictly normally aspirated. I could see Ford decreasing the power of the ecoboost. That's kind of its biggest attraction.

2015 Ford F-150 | View Full Engine Specifications | Ford.com

If you copy and paste the above in your web browser, this is where i get the information on the 4 engines being offered in the 2015 F150
I am referring to the 2.7L EcoBoost V6
It shows Torque of 375 lbs @ 3,000rpm
This looks like an improvement in Torque over the 275 lbs on the smaller V6 in the 2014 model which did not have the EcoBoost.

So what I was attempting to say, was the 2015 2.7L EcoBoost V6, with the 3.73 axle ratio may solve my concerns at Beshel's Marina in Pointe ala Hache.

The boat I have been having trouble with wheels spinning at the launch is probably a 6,000 lb with trailer and load. But this is a 2002 truck, no towing package, etc. so the New Truck may have a lot better towing capacity.
My confusion is whether the LSD would help at the launch or do I truly need a 4x4 truck for this area.

any problems I have had with spinning my wheels on the boat ramp have usually been traction related and not power related. I have launched and retrieved my boat with my 09 Explorer. It has 4.0 V6 but it is a 4x4. I have had no problems with boat ramps with it either.

I have forgotten to put it in 4x4 and spun the rear wheels.

I did have a 2x4 f-50 for a short while that would spin rear wheels easily. My wife was driving and got T-boned. It totaled the truck and bruised up my wife, but all ended well.

Don't forget that these trucks come standard with traction control both 4x4 and 4x2. This is a nice feature to help reduce wheel spin and traction loss.

In the past I had an '86 4x4 with open diff and an '88 4x4 with LSD and I felt that they both performed the same off road.
Beginning model year 2012, if you had ELD rear end on a 4x4, if you pull the 4x4 **** out in 2 wheel drive, you have a locked rear diff.

I don't really care for 4x4, I live near Detroit, so we get some significant snow, however, I don't need 4x4 for driving in the snow, my 97 f150 2wd had no problem going through a ft' of snow, what I need 4x4 is low lock, when I back my travel trailer into the barn up north, the ramp is like a boat ramp in reverse, the trailer is heavy and the ramp is steep, in 2 wheel drive the tires just spin trying to back a trailer up, in low lock, you just barley feather the gas and it goes with no fuss, in my mind the transfer case makes a much more agile vehicle when it comes to loads and ramps.

Define "way cheaper", and from where. I am looking for a drop in ELD for my superduty with 3.31 gears. From factory they have the option of with or without the ELD, so I know one is available, just would like to know where I can find it..maybe a ford OEM assembly p/n?
