I'm wondering when owners will get sick of watching the square 'Ford Trucks' symbol smash into the concrete every time they start the truck!
Now if I could reprogram that so Sarah Evans smiles at me....
I have said this before and the situation still irritates me. When I first got my truck I immediately set up the account with the SYNC site. I expected there to be app offerings where we could install various utilities and fun stuff through the SYNC system. It took about 10 minutes for me to figure out that the SYNC stuff is a whole lot of nothing. Very disappointing. I have not looked into the website in over a year now, maybe it works better now?
There is a local radio talk show guy, he's nationally syndicated and pretty darn smart to boot; anyway he was commenting on this last year. He bought a new BMW or something and those stickers bugged him, so someone told him about using a supre hot blow dryer or better a heat gun used for heat shrink tubing. He said he did it himself going very slowly and it worked, stickers gone.
The dealer saw it and said they are required to re-apply them if they notice they're gone. He told them it would be the last time they ever saw him for service or new cars. I'm tempted to try it myself, maybe on the passenger side, but the ones on these trucks look like they may leave a flat spot once gone.
hey - been in the decal biz for 20+ years....as far as I know - those are NOT decals/stickers, but a screenprinted (ink) that is heat pressed on at the factory. As for a DEALER re-applying them - i think that is a rumor or fib - kinda impossible, unless they had decals made specific for that..and IF thats the case, there would be a part number for that....which i doubt. In another brand truck, i spent some time (waiting for my wife to come out of the mall!) so i started pickin at it...it DID release off the fuzzy material...(if its not fuzzy now, it will be as you pick it off)..but honestly - i did get it off, didnt have glue because it doesnt HAVE glue to bond to that particular surface....but it DID leave the shape of it, which i found looked crappy and people ALWAYS asked me...what happened to the visor?...i recommend,...LEAVE it on, and go to your local sign shop and get them to make a nice decal of choice that same size and cover it. The OEM print will allow the decal to bond to it, as oppsed to it "trying" to bond to the fuzz.....i personally made a Toronto Maple Leaf decal.....then they lost...again...and again....and again......so Shania Twain looks down at me now!
Don't know for fact what the ones are on our trucks, but I'd bet $100 that what Neal Boortz said is true about his car. He's no fly by night or rumor spreading talking head. Google him and listen to him online and judge for yourself if he's not on in you area, but he's pretty much everywhere in the USA.
Okay, quick edit, .... as long as betting isn't against FTE rules :-).
hmmm a BMW versus our trucks.....lol....they are a German and likely alot more fussy with details.....so THAT may be quite likely! lol.....it could also be totally different material they use for visors AND the "warning label".....i have a 2011 F250 CC SB...just got it a week ago....
I agree they must be different because I'm afraid of attempting removing it. These certainly look like a lot of heat was used and it's probably "flat" underneath.
There is a how-to on removing these from another make. It says to remove the visor and lay it flat. Fold up paper towel to about the size of the label and soak in isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Lay towel on label and let soak for some period of time. Maybe re-wet towel as alcohol evaporates. Label should pull off easily once soaked long enough.
I had an upolstery shop cover mine with an almost identical fabric as the head liner and he did a nice job especially tucking in around the small mirrors.
