Warranty Ford rep.

Ford sent Rep. today. Spent 4-5 hours on truck, unhappy cab was off after Ford said they wanted it off, ok replace high pressure pump. Took lots of pictures and the only thing he did not like was my 125 gal. tank in back, if it had been hooked up to truck he was not going to approve warranty! Gave them 36 pages of service orders (oil filter, oil, fuel filter, tires, etc.) to truck

told him the latest flash is eating my mpg's since florida. told him to check the flash.

Ford rep. checked fuel filters to see if they were Ford filters and that they were new style with front o ring, and time changed. Asked if truck had been run out of fuel?

If it runs to low it will set a code to limit power. I can see why he asked but whether you had the new style or old should matter as they didn't recall the old one did they?

p0088 CODE

I was getting this code when I was hard in the skinny pedal while towing going over large grades. I replaced the low pressure fuel pump with aa Air Dog II and have not seen the code since. Hope I dodged a bullet on the pump eating it self and contaminating my fuel system.

I wouldn't say the pump is eating itself, but rather that perhaps the VCV cannot do it's job anymore.

Thanks for the info. Did you drop your tank and clean the two screans inside the pickup tube also. I have heard of guys having them partially plugged also. Thinking I might try that next.

Ok. Few questions on how this has problem has went for people in the past. Does it always start with the truck has had no issues and then all of a sudden your pulling your camper down the highway and you feel your cruise control cut out and will not reset. So you push the accelerator down and at about 2200 rpm you feel the engine start to surge and notice the check engine light is on. As long as you keep your foot out of the pedal the truck runs fine but as you try to go up a hill or speed up it continues to surge and act up. Stop in an autozone have them check for codes and comes up p0088 fuil rail pressure high. Check and change the fuel filters lower is dirty, upper is clean and no signs of any metal shavings. Check engine light stays on and truck seams to run great cold but acts up when warm. Is this what everyone else has experienced? Does the vcv go bad because the hpfp is failing or does the vcv failing cause the pump to go bad? Sorry for the long post. Any help appreciated.
