now that I have it apart, the guy is thinking about going ahead and putting a rebuilt motor in it. Was just planing on head job, piston change, and fixing A/C sytem, but looks like it might end up with fresh motor now.
Also, have a 04 F350 dullie with a 6.0 that a guy is wanting me to due a cummins swap on. It will be awhile before he has all the parts for me to due that one, but I will post some pics when I get started on it.
That poor 6.oh looked pretty jacked up! A buddy of mine did that to one of his pistons, but he accidentally dropped a screw down the intake plenum and didn't notice it until he started the truck after a turbo swap. LOL
Have you ever done a cummins swap on one? Does he want a 12v or CR? Same buddy just swapped a 12v in his '99. It's no easy task. 2 years in the making now.
I havent done a cummins swap before. The guy is getting a 04 with harness and PCM. Then buying all the conversion parts from destroked. Figure it might take me a little time but maybe not. I have a buddy that put a 12V in his 7.3. Said it wasn't too bad. We will see.

It really isn't too bad, it's just getting all the parts and figuring out how YOU want to route everything. For example, my buddy had a choice of mounting the engine a couple inches farther back to allow a stock fan to clear up front, but for that he'd have to shorten his driveline and lengthen the front driveshaft... Not cheap. He opted to mount it farther forward and deal with trying to fit electric fans. Now fans won't clear on the engine side of the radiator, so he's going to see if mounting fans out front will keep it cool.
Then there's the IC pipes and turbo mounting. He ended up getting a CR manifold from HTT so the turbo mounts down lower to clear the HVAC box and will have to mod a set of CR IC pipes to fit.
IIRC he also had to slightly mod his 4R100 bellhousing to fit. IIRC the flexplate wouldn't clear.
He kept the Ford alternator and got the conversion mount from GOS for it since Dodge alternators SUCK. LOL. He's also getting the A/C lines redone by GOS to mount A/C compressor in stock Dodge location.
Just some stuff to look into for him. It's tough to decide which route to go on everything.
