1bbl carb upgrade
In the mean time, here's a way to upgrade my stock 1bbl without removing stock intake and exhaust...
Webercarbs@piercemanifolds.com has:
1bbl to 2bbl adaptor (you drill the aluminum base to fit your stock manifold) - $52.50 (cliffy's price - $58)
Various kits with adaptor, (various) 2bbl. Weber carbs., linkage(?), etc. for $375 - $440. (Cilif wants $399 for most any Weber ALONE).
I realize this ain't an offy(or cliffy) $2-300 intake with a $275 4bbl. & $300ish headers , but it appears it will bolt right on above the stock egr plate and should be "emissions compliant" - which some folks still have to worry about. Shouldn't (negatively) affect the (holy grail) torque..ought to improve performance & mileage...
I've got a connection for a Weber 40 IDF (Cliffy's "ideal 300-6 carb -$399") for "$230" so I'm looking at a nice stock carb upgrade for $300-$350 (linkage and all) while retaining stock emissions for about half the BIG upgrade and with less than half the work. Then the "40" can go on the big intake with headers ina couple of years when the time is "right".
I doubt if I could stand to do this without a LITTLE port work on the stock intake (and maybe exhaust)... (stock IS pretty tight). Decisions, decisions...What do YOU think?
