tightening serpentine belt on 92 f150 4.9

i have a 92 f150 with 4.9 and woundnt turn over and after checking the usaual suspects i removed serpentine belt and found my ac compressor seized so i decided to get a belt for non ac engine to use till i can replace compressor however when i put belt on its loose to where it barely spins. i looked on alt. and power steering pump and couldt see anything to tighten the belt can anyone let me know how to adjust it or at least let me know if there is a way to unseize the ac compressor so i can use old belt? i'm at my wits end ty

Is the tensioner working properly?

Possible you need a shorter belt.

You could either buy a ac delete idler pulley (~$40) or fix/replace the ac.

Or, as Kdoaxs said, get a shorter belt.

You don't wanna try and un-sieze the ac compressor, that'll prolly end up as a bigger headache then it already is.

Rock auto lists this:

DAYCO Part # 5060970 More Information About this Part Serpentine Belt; Exceeds OE Specifications Effective Length 97.05 / Top Width .82 / No of Ribs 6 / Thickness 0.169
Multiple Accessory, w/o A.C. (Only 12 Remaining)

So that might be the length you need.

Actually, I would probably just get a new compressor and be done with it. Just did a search on www.car-part.com and junkyards around here have the compressor for $40.

What you said doesn't make sense.

If the compressor was seized, all you need to do is disable the clutch
so it never engages. Pull the clutch coil electrical connector at the front
of the compressor or turn the AC off.

If you remove the belt you should be able to turn the clutch plate
with some resistance because it is bolted to the compressor shaft.
If you can't turn the clutch plate the compressor is probably seized
but the serpentine belt will still turn the clutch pulley as long
as the compressor clutch is not engaged.

Behind the clutch plate is the clutch pulley. It has a bearing that
rides on the compressor shaft. The pulley should spin freely.
If the bearing is bad you can replace the bearing. Cost is about $20.00.

Only special tools needed is a spanner wrench to hold the clutch plate
while the clutch plate retainer nut is removed.

Need to rent or buy the proper tool to pull the clutch plate off.

O'reilly's has the puller for rent.

Snap ring pliers to remove a snap ring.

I believe your compressor is a FS10.

Here's a picture of the compressor clutch.

From left to right.

So what belt number did you end up using? I'mbeing told that Dayco isn't a readily available Belt brand here. Anyone got anything to cross reference it to? Thank in Advance.
