x2 on finding another truck, idk why anybody would need a 2x4 vehicle, it just doesnt make sense, then again im from montana where it will snow any month of the year.
If you have a way to get ahold of all the parts either really cheap or free a buddy of mine did it to his 80-81 not sure of exact year it's a cobbled together truck it took him about a week but it only took him that long because he had to track down some parts... By no means is it easy but if another truck is not feesable then it's not an impossible task
Is it doable? Yes. Is it feasible? Most people that have really looked into it have decided against it.
I have an F350 dually, my first IDI, that though it's been an awesome truck, really suffers a few times a year because it's only 2wd. I have 4 other 4wd trucks here to compare things with, access to metal working machinery, welders, torches, pretty much anything one wants for vehicle work. I've decided that a 2 to 4wd conversion isn't in my future. If anything, I'll take one of the existing 4wd F350's and make into a dually instead.
