Electrical Question

One of the bulbs on the third brake light/cargo light was out. Went to change it and it wouldn't pop out of the cab. Looked closer and the plastic around the left bulb was all melted. Just screwed it back to the cab because i didnt want to break it until i have another as it rains everyday. What would cause it to get that hot? And what do i need to check as far a wiring/fuses?

They all do that..... usually because the door gets left open for long periods of time, those bulbs get very toasty this is part of the reason newer trucks have the courtesy/dome lights controoled by the GEM module, and it shuts them down after a few minutes, even if the door is still open.
