Ok so my buddy has a 2000 f350 7.3. Hpop went out and he cracked a piston. I want to know wat all can be swapped. I already have his ipr in my truck. Can the computer, and idm be swapped? He can't afford another 7.3 so he's dropping a 12 valve in it I would like to buy the whole motor with out the hpop. He bought a brand new one and discovered the piston after he put it in. 8 good injectors aren't going with the motor. He had those sold already
IDM yes, computer no. Since the HPOP is "bad" and he sold the injectors already, there's really nothing else that would be an upgrade for you off his motor.
And maybe everything needed for electric fuel. Possibly the intake plenums, turbo & up pipes if you get the intercooler. That would give you the option of more affordable bellowed up pipes or different turbo upgrades down the road. If he's willing to let the PCM go cheap, grab it and send it off to your favorite tuner to get it flashed to your truck with a tune on it.
Im sure he will let the pcm go for around $75 or $100. How much would it cost to get it flashed? I tried to get the whole truck but he is dead set on that 12you valve. The truck is a dually with no scratches or dents. And has about 120k on it.
You didn't say what year your truck is but I think if it is 95 and older the HPOP needs to be the type with the drain back? That is why a lot of guys send in their HPOP to be modified I thought. Maybe it is just cheaper, not sure.

The PCM is of a different family. It can not simply be reflashed.

The pump would be the only useful part. No sense in buying the turbo parts to "upgrade" to an SD turbo IMO.
