A/C Compressor Clutch

It's getting warm here is California and I decided to excercise the A/C to make sure everything is in working order. When turning the switch to a/c and a/c max the air doesn't cool at all. I opened the hood and noticed that the a/c clutch doesn't activate. I took that plug off on the front of the compressor just behind the pully, put a test light on it and I'm getting no juice at all. I've checked all the fuses and everything is ok there. Any other ideas? Am I checking the wrong plug? Could it be something else? It worked great last summer.

I want to avoid taking it in if I can.

Thanks

a low pressure cut off switch is used on that system. The switch is located on the reciever/drier. It is possible the system may be low on refrigerant

Most major auto part stores have them . But in most states you are required to be a certfied in mobile a/c repair . Some quick lubes usally run specials that may actually be cheaper than buying the equipment and refrigerant.

A Fair set of 134A gauges go for about 90 to 100 bucks check out a local refrigeration supply shop. DONT shop for A/C equipment at your favrite auto parts store. 12 oz cans od 134a are about 3.50 to 4.00 dollars i dont know if you have to be EPA 609 Cert to by 134A which is what your truck has. but the law were supose to change and if it isnt that way yet it will be soon. most ahops will do an a/c tune up and it will include x amount of freon for less than what you can get the equipment for.

Currently, the sale of R-134a is unregulated.
