New Guy - 1960 F100 Build Starting

Hello Everyone!!!

This is my first thread and post on the forumn. I have been lurking around for a while now reading all the great posts and threads and I am now ready to start my build......

I purchased a 1960 F100 about 2 years ago and its been sitting ever since because I had become overwelmed with the fact of trying to build it.

In my original thought process of the build I wanted to put a 460 in it that a buddy of mine (Rusty at American Auto Clinic) had hooked me up with but that was also overwhelming trying to figure out how to make that all work, so its now sitting in the garage waiting for a new home once this project is done.

Since being on the site I have really enjoyed reading about the guys using the Crown Victoria (CV) IFS with the 4.6 litter V8's and putting 8.8" rear ends in them. This is the way I'm going to go. I picked up an 04 Mercury or CV and moving forward with the build and we will see where it goes from here.....

Any encouragement or suggestion anyone can help with would be great. I'm looking forward to starting this now that I have more knowledge from the posts and threads here. I'm hoping to keep this thread going for the build of the truck.

I look forward to hearing from you guys!!!!

Kyle

This was a photoshop edit I threw out real quick. (not sure on the color but thats a small decision in the big picture of things):

Welcome to FTE! Rebuilding these old trucks could get scary, but you have to get your hands dirty and get to it. I got a 59 and it took me a year to start rebuilding....

Glad your saving another fridge, we need more orphans on the road!!!

I am trying to deciede what is the best way to do my rear suspension on a budget with the best performance....

- Is it better to utilize the stock 1960 for 9" with leaf springs?

- Use the stock 1960 9" with a 4 link?

- Change out the 9" with an explorer 8.8?

Any other idea's suggestion would be appreciated. Pro's and Con's of any or more. Thank you guys for the help. I'm new here so just trying to learn and get the build going in the right direction.
