spark knock, or bad lifter?????
it sounded like maybe my torque converter. so I changed it, not a big deal because i had a new one when i got my trans rebuilt. well that was not it!!! so after i get the noise to get going, i took a tube and held it against the motor, its right below the oil pan flange on the driver side back corner. Is this possibly a lifter going bad? it will go away after i rev the motor for a min then its gone until i start it back up? Any Ideas??????

Well, it's not a spark knock. "Possibly" a lifter sticking, an additive to free sticking lifters may help. I use Marvel Mystery oil, but I only deal with a lot older engines. It could a lifter leaking down when it sets and takes a bit to pump back up if hydraulic lifters. I have a 2002 pickup that rattles like a diesel till it warms up a bit, but too new for me to mess with.
