CODE reader for super dutys
Any OBDII reader will work for generic codes. There's nothing special about the SD when it comes to readers except you'd do best to get one that supports "manufacturer-specific" codes.
Make certain you buy one that has CAN capabilities. This one looks pretty bare-bones (Aquus Innova 3030, it looks like).

I purchased the Innova 3160 and it has been very useful... ABS, CANOBD2, Live Data, etc. for $194.00.

My OBD II reads absolutely nothing on my 99 PSD.
Even worse, the truck holds no memory. When I had SES light coming on, I took it to a shop for codes reading. 5 minutes later there was no code in memory. That was most likely for Pedal Position Sensor.

I have an 05 f250 super duty.
I'd like to buy a scanner that will give the details on it.. I might jump across the border to see if a place will scan it for free down there. I live on the canada us border and everyone up here charges an arm and a leg to scan your vehicle.

I am thinking this is the best scanner for the buck. $359

I do agree with you that a generic reader is a waste of time and money, but that wasn't the question I was answering.

Again, a GENERIC OBDII Scanner WILL NOT read most of the codes/systems on a PSD.
A regular SD gas engine it should be fine tho, although I have never owned one and never tried. Keep in mind they want to sell you a product, just because it will plug into the OBDII port does not mean any OBDII scanner will work. Changed real quick to make a point!
