Replacing rear shocks

I've tried to search but it seems every thread regarding shocks or struts ends up focusing on the front. Understandable as the front seems to be much more complicated but I'm hoping to find some info about replacing the rear shocks.

I have a leaking rear shock so it's time to replace them. With the rear of the truck on jackstands and the wheel removed, is there anything more to removing the rear shocks than just unbolting them? Any compression required? Just trying to figure out if this is something I can handle easily or not.

Thanks!

The rear is just about as easy as you've just stated. They are simply a bolt-in application. The front is more complicated for obvious reasons...mainly that hunk of coiled metal called a spring.
