Quick rear susp.question

2007 f250 srw 4x4

I am replacing the 2" rear block w/ a 4" from a f350.

Will the rear shocks need to be replaced as well,
being as there will be a 2" difference in ride height?

(local parts house lists different rear shocks for 250 vs. 350,don't know if it's length or valving)

Thanks!

I was just looking at 2" lifts online the other day. The one I found came without shocks but offered them as an upgrade. I don't think you need them. It might be worth trying to go without them to see how it goes. You can always add them later if you have issues. Sorry I can't remember where I found the kit.

Some shocks will accomodate a small lift, some won't. It depends. If you are that concerned, you can either get a set that you know will work, otherwise you can look at your shocks after the next time you exercise a little articulation. The shock casing will be deformed outward where the piston exits if you are overextending them. Happened on my dad's rig when he added a leaf to the rear.

try putting the blocks in. Unbolting the top of the shock and see what kind of range you have. If you do alot of off road driving you will need more shock length than if you are gonna keep it on the highway. Make your assumption then.

I went from the 4" block to the 2" block and used the stock shocks without any problems. Bilstein listed the same shock for the rear of the F250 & F350 SRW.

Good luck

Yeah, if you look at shock part numbers, they list the same shock for both the F250 and the F350. So if you have an otherwise stock suspension, YES you can use the same shock.
