71k ??? awesome ! welcome aboard !
suspension ! get it handling properly.....lots of threads on this.....search v code and b code ........for springs....unless you want to lift it....the pro comp is very popular
I just got it yesterday. Not sure if it needs to be lifted or not. Was thinking of a leveling kit. Also, will hit discount tire for new wheels and tires. Any suggestions on tire/wheel size?
I lifted mine....used Rough Country F250 front leveling springs and 2" F250 add a leaf on the rear....that actually lifts an Ex 4 "......Ex is 2" lower than a truck already .....if I had it to do again I think I would use Procomp 4" spring lift.....for Excursion....I think it would ride better and still let you have 315/75 R16s.....mine handles great but rides a little stiffer now than I would like.....I went Rough country because I have used them before and liked the part quality........if you lift it go with a 35" tire........looks great on an Ex...
I am probably going to go with gauges and exhaust first on my new Ex. It was my initial reaction after reading up on the 6l PSD (and confirmed today - Thank Mike).

Just got my second X. It is a 2002, 7.3 4x4 with 71,000 miles. I am looking for some advise on what to accessorize first?
2nd as in you have two now? Just drive it and enjoy for 6 months while you figure out what maintenance it needs. Then this winter in a cozy garage, start tweakin' .
Had an '05 with 5.4 and 2wd. In Texas no need for 4x4, now live in NM and hit the sand and mountains. Thinking I'll do wheels and tires, still have original tires and they have some dry rot from sitting in garage. Then I guess I'll do exhaust?
Wow, a 7.3 with 71k. I didn't think those were out there any more. Not to be nosie, but what did you pay for it?
My 02 did some motor mods and of maintenance for my own piece of mind. Seems you can feed a small country for price of all the fluids in an EX. Have done the air filter, and upped the boost. A exhaust is next followed by gauges and a tuner, then a lift.
Congrats on your new Ex and good luck with your mods. Its gets a little addicting.
2.9% interest for 60 months on a 10 year old vehicle is good too. You better kiss the finance agent, shake his/her hand, and take him/her out to dinner!
