I have a 2000 EB Expedition with the 5.4L. While driving it last week it just stopped. The motor will try to turn over but will not fire. I found on the forum to look at the #30 fuse and sure it was blown. This fuse blows the second I turn the key on. I do not need to try to start the motor, just turning it it on blows this fuse.
Most likely one or both of your radio interference suppression capacitors are shorted. Try unplugging them to see if the short clears up. Note their locations in the picture below.
I disconnected the battery, disconnected them, hooked the battery back up and it worked. Yippie!!! now 4 weeks later it did it again, but this time doing the same steps it still blowing the fuse? Any other ideas?
Check your fuel delivery control module that is mounted on the frame in the spare tire area. The aluminum module is mounted to the steel frame, eventually the aluminum corrodes away and moisture gets into the module. When my module went bad it fried fuse #30 all the time.
The part is in short supply, may have to get on a waiting list for a new one.
