serpentine belt
My daughter's 1995 4.9 manual transmission has been throwing little pieces of rubber on the interior hood. I replace her old belt it was time and I am still seeing rubber on the inner hood. Her truck has also developed a noise that I believe is coming from the fan. It almost sounds lie the fan is hitting something. There is a little tick like noise. I have checked the fan shroud and don't see anything obvious. There are no other symptoms except a very slow drip from the power steering reservoir. Thanks for any help.

Its possible that the water pump might be going out. It sometimes develops a ticking sound before it does (sometimes). Make sure that the belt is installed properly. I have installed it wrong before and it still worked but developed a chirping noise and throw rubber shortly after installed!
