yet another e4od question

My buddy just bought a 96f-250...4x4...powerstroke with e4od and the tranny was supposedly just rebuilt with new inerds....the truck will back up just fine.....but when put it in drive second or first....it starts in second and stays there....will not shift....where do we start...other than pulling codes when we can

I do not know if this applies to a powerstroke or not but if it was a gas engine I would say it is Limp Mode.
Check the TP sensor and make sure it is connected OK and maybe check its resistance.

Ok sub...another question....the person he bought it from made it out like he rebuilt it with some but not all internals....is there a chance that where the shift linkage moves that rod inside the tranny was not lined up properly? Causing issues with valve bodies...just asking

Check all fuses, both under dash and under hood, if all the fuses are good then remove the electrical connector on the rear of the transmission, and re-seat it. It will be on the passenger side. Also disconnect the battery for a while to reset the computer.
