Hopefully it turns out to be nothing and returns to normal soon.
I know my truck has a slight knocking sound that comes and goes from time to time. It's been doing that for the last hundred thousand miles or two. Seems more noticeable when the outside temp is really hot and the engine is up to full temp. I can make it go away by turning off the A/C but it's not the A/C that is making the noise (or at least I don't think so...).
I've learned to accept the fact that my engine sounds different from time to time. Seems like the noise is more pronounced after I have 4k-5k on the oil. For years I used to think it was due to the anti foaming agent breaking down....now I am not sure that is even a real issue. I am currently running Motorcraft oil at the moment and my engine appears noisier then when using Rotella. Again, it's just perception at this point. I plan on having the oil analyzed soon so I'll be curious to see how the report comes back. At this point the only constant for me is that the slight knocking noise is noticeable when it's really hot outside.
Yea, one thing my bud noticed was that it starts to knock when it starts to warm up as well, so they may be similar issues so I'm curious as to how your tests turn out. Him and I have been wondering if maybe this is the way they are supposed to sound on all cylinders when the injectors are running at 100% of normal.
