Hi and welcome to FTE! I just set mine in the cup holder on the fold down armrest since my avic connects via Bluetooth I don't need access to it until I leave the truck, only problem is m so used to voice commands now I find myself leaving the phone all the time and telling the tv to answer call!

I like to use mine as a GPS so I need to see it. I don't have the new system with all the bells and whistles. I'm no way knocking the teched out rigs but (Chrome don't get you home) well that and all the cool upgrades were just too much…$$$$$$
im also interested in a good mount....i hav'nt seen one that fits the griffin case on my i phone. i also would like to use it for GPS. just need to find a good GPS app. subscribing...
Check out arkon.com they got some cool mounts. I just bought one for my iPad and mounted it in my truck which I use for gps. I'll get some pictures of it if your interested.
My wife bought me a set of pouches that having different mounts can be attached to vents or any sticking molding. I attached one just below instrument cluster and that one holds my Internet modem and my cellphone, still having some space for napkins or other stuff.
I use $9 a month tracfone and basic phones are free of charge. Usually have a reminder of 50 minutes a month passed on next month
Automotive GPS can be bought as cheap as $39, while $19 buys you antenna and software to use your laptop with way more possibilities of exploring and planning the route. Why would anybody pay $10 a month, or $500 in 4 years to have it on his phone?
All automotive GPS have batteries build in, so you can take it hiking as well.
Our friend took is hybrid phone hiking with us and wanted to measure the distance with build in GPS. That thing drained the battery before the end of 2 hr hiking.
I used to have a mount they sell at Walmart for like 10 bucks that bends and swivels and can attach to either your windshield or right on top of the dash. It is adjustable to fit most phones but my new one is too big so I just keep it in the cupholder.
I use the phone holder molded into the arm rest on the back of my ford down center seat. My Samsung Moment fits perfect, if my wife is with me she uses the holder and I have to use a cup holder.....
for short term until i find something better i just went to autozone and picked up a universal one. it holds most of the smart phones out there. not the best design but it worked "ok". i had to stick it to the windshield. i would rather have something more secure attached to the dash panels but i have not had luck with the "stick" type discs attaching to the plastic. they just wont hold/stay on long. the other prob is on the new (2011) superduty is the dash doesnt offer too many places to mount one there. the search continues....
