Blue Spring/85psi

Finally got around to adding a fuel pressure sensor to my Spartan Phalanx. At the time of install I upgraded to the blue spring. At idle I'm around 80-85 psi. Rolling down the highway at 75mph average 85 psi. WOT it dropped to 65 then returned back to 85psi.

Looks like I'm going back to the stock spring.

I've never heard of the blue spring going that high. You're a 1st and there has to be something else contributing to this.

Install of the spring was pretty easy. Replaced brass cup and spring. Also replaced gasket in cover.

The only thing I question is the accuracy of my newly installed sensor. I'll have to look into calibrating it to be certain. Not sure if it's even possible.

before you throw away the blue spring test the fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge at the test port....not at the cap or any other means....

if still too high I would just barely fuzz a little bit off the spring and reinstall to get the ideal psi....

Did the blue spring on mine last month when I did the oil cooler and BPD erg cooler. Mine went from 48psi to 75 psi at idle. Now after a month, it has dropped to 68 at idle and 65-68 at road rpm's. It DID slightly drop in pressure like numerous posters stated but holds very steady at these pressures. Very glad I did it.

you may not have gotten the spring seated in the cover correctly. I have seen this done before were it forced a pump to dead head pressures that pegged my 100psi gauge.

if the spring did not retain the bent shape you should be fine to correclty reinstall it.

this spring regulates the fuel pressure

low fuel pressure KILLS injectors

some have experianced low fuel pressure at WOT this spring just bumps the pressure up

The injector fires a plunger to inject the fuel the diesel fuel is the lube for the plunger you dont want to dry fire the injectors when fuel pressure is low
This is also the reason most people on here run diesel additives
I use the grey bottle of diesel clean from walley world

It goes here

I'll also be putting in the new ICP. Will see what my readings will be then. Also will be cleaning the EBP tube while I'm in there.

Then, the wife's car needs some attention. Fun day tomorrow.
