MORE E-brake help

hey guys....got new e-brake pads, hardware and wheel seals installed last nite...done at like 3am. i adjusted to what i think was drag, and then when i went to use the pedal it is very smooth but still no grab. well it grabs a little. how much drag on the rotors using the adjustment star is too much?

also could someone explain how these parking brakes work...looks like the top is stationary and you adjust the bottoms out. but when you push the pedal, the cable tightens and pulls the top of the pad out to the rotor. how the heck is that going to hold a 6k lbs truck? if the bottom of the pad is close, and the top only moves with the pedal, there is barely any contact surface.

maybe im missing something here...please enlighten me. also is there any adjustment for the cable? thanks alot...

How much slop is in your cable? If you grab the cable by hand and yank on it, do the brake shoes move any? Try spinning the rotor by hand with the e-brake applied to see if you're getting any resistance.

It might be confusing to think of this in terms of a round drum, but think of taking a 2 x 4 and placing the bottom where it just touches the base of a wall. Hold the other end in your hand leaning away from the wall at a 45 deg. angle. Now extend your arm and push the top of the 2 x 4 up against the wall leaving the bottom where it was. Now you have full contact between the 2 x 4 and the wall by only moving the top. Brake shoes work on the same principle.
