Steering Column help

I just bought a '75 f250 4x4 frame and chassis so I can swap my '71 2wd over. My 2wd has a 4spd, but the 4x4 has the C6, which I want to keep. My question is about the steering column. Do I look for a '67-'72 or a'75 column? Are they nterchangeable? What should I be aware of when making the swap?

Or should I just get a floor shifter (which I don't really want).

A 73-79 column will bolt right in to the older cab.

Steering Column help

For some reason I seem to remember that the F250 4x4 columns are unique.........something about they're connected to the steering box differently in 4x4's........hhmm....I will leave it at that someone will correct me if I am wrong

That would make sense since the steering box is different. Can anyone confirm this?

The 4x4 columns do have a different hookup at the bottom but the physical mounting in the cab is the same...

Steering Column help

So, I need to look for a '73-'79 4x4 steering col. with AT on the column. What about model, ie F150 and F250, or does it matter. I would think not, but I want to make sure.

Thanks again to all that have helped so far!

I'd stick with an F250 column unless somebody can affirm the bottom hookup is the same as a half ton.

Once again my "rememberer" seems to recall that the F250 4x4's steering box arrangement is a little different then the F100/150 4x4.
Although the steering columns themselves may be the same....... might take a quick trip to a junkyard and get the info first hand.
