Please, if someone would be so kind to take a picture of the rack and pinion of their ranger ( i believe i need a 1998-2001 ranger 2wd) and how it connects!!!
I have a 2000 2wd 2.5 5 speed ranger that i somewhat wrecked. Anyways im in the middle of replacing the rack and pinion and i forgot what it looked like when removing it.
Too me it seems i might have bent it so i would like too see someone elses to see whats wrong.
When i go to put my new rack on it seems like it needs to be turned another 45-90 degrees to fit right.
Does the plate its connect to go horizontal or vertical?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PICTURE ME! NEED TO GET THIS FIXED!!! THANK YOU!!!
When I get back from my trip, I'll snap some pics for you. I'll post direct to your PM account. I'll probably post you on Saturday unless one of our fellow FTE'ers get to it first.
Wow man, you wrecked your black one too? There's something cursed about black Rangers.
Is there even a difference between the steering racks between 4x2 and 4x4's? I could get you a pic of the one from my 03, but my 03 is an Edge with 4x4 suspension, so I'm not sure if things are the same.
I sure hope so. What's worse is my truck was exactly like yours, Sport edition and all, the only thing different being mine was a long bed.
To ease your worry, somebody crossed into my lane, and I swerved to miss them, but the only way to swerve was into a wooded area. I sold the truck and the new owner fixed it up and still drives it to this day, two years later.
Sounds like you went from worse to bad, so an improvement albeit one you shouldn't have to had made. Glad to hear that the truck got a second chance...perhaps another Ranger enthusiast was born as a result.
FNFL - back in CT despite the airlines shutting down flights for about 5 hours yesterday (107 in Philly). I'll take some glossies for you and figure out how to post them.
I emailed myself the pictures to my work email so I have them on my laptop. I PMed you with my work and home emails, so I can send you the smaller files from my work email and the larger files (2M files) from the home email. The larger files will be more flexible to enlarging for greater detail, but it could jam up your inbound emai.
