DOH--Impulsive!

I really should slow down--

Looks like I will know in about two weeks pending a bonus if I'm trading in the FX4 I just bought for a brand new 2011 Raptor.

Dealership has one helluva sale on it and my special pricing--for being shot in Iraq--is making it WELL worth it.

Black on Black -- it's absolutely SEXY!

I hate being impulsive--had I waited just a couple more weeks I would of known more about my bonus (that was supposedly non-existent).

The Raptor is sweet.

I hate to be that guy that rains on your parade...but should you really be buying something that you can only justify with the bonus? Additionally, that 6.2L drinks gasoline to the tune of about 12mpg in town, if not worse. I'm sure that insurance on it is much higher as well.

Just a few thoughts to bring you back from the impulse buy. I sometimes wish people would do the same for me, albeit on smaller purchases, but still the same.

Good luck in whatever you do.

He already bought it, no use raining on his parade.

He bought the FX4, not the Raptor. Read again.

Very wise words my friend.

I don't know how to say this without pissing you or anyone else off--but I can afford this truck with or without the bonus.

It's just the fact I picked up a new truck less than two weeks ago.

I'm an impulse buyer and sometimes I don't slow down and wait.

Why I have two $18,000 motorcycles in my garage (Aprilia and a Ducati).

No worries Storm, just giving you the otherside of the argument!

I saw where you picked up the 2wd SCrew and then took it back for the FX4. Now you're looking at the Raptor...I have to say that I'm just a tad bit jealous! If you can afford it, then more power to ya. Enjoy!

I love my FX4--

I haven't decided 100% yet, there are big differences; 6.2L versus 5.4L-- pretty good mpg drop.

Better suspension

Really sick body

Then of course I think about what my friend at TruckToyz can do to mine for half the cost of buying the Raptor. Hell I could even afford to supercharge my Triton LOL.

It's a beautiful truck and there seems to be only one in Austin--that I've seen.

We'll see-- I will probably just stick with my FX4 and drool over the Raptor from time to time.

Not to pee in cheerios, but if you really intend to off road it, just build your 2010.

The 6.2 in my Platinum gets 14 in town, and 16 on the highway. It's not as bad as everyone makes it sound...just keep your foot out of the firewall, or it's Ramen for supper.

If you've met your personal financial obligations (retirement, charity/community, bills, kid's education, etc.)...

THEN GO FOR IT (and post more pics so us that are less 'fortunate' [money wise] can drool!)

I love your post. But, pushing around the factory 35"s will require a bit more go juice and the harder you push her, the better she feels and the thirstier she gets. Well, you all get the message, the damned thing will be fun as hell to drive.

Good point, but the Raptor is running 4.10 gears and 34.5x12.5" meat. The taller gear set and the heavier tire will decrease economy.

Regardless...it's a bad *** truck. I just hope that if it's bought that it will be used for its intended purposes, and not just another pavement pounder.

EDIT: ^^^^ there goes Tim steppin' on my toes again!!!!
