Hello all i have a 99 super duty with the v-10 in it and like most of these trucks the exhaust manifold bolts rotted away, i put a set of the stainless ebay headers on it when i changed the bolts out becasue the manifolds were junk too. My problem is the headers didnt come with the egr bung in them, I thought it would be ok without it hooked up.WRONG it wont run worth a crap. Has anybody dealt with this before? what did ya do? Also is it possible to get the computer reprogrammed to the mods i have exhaust, intake, etc? Thanks
Either weld an EGR bung in it to keep the EGR and the MPG bump it provides, or contact Mike at 5 star to write you a custom program if you want to eliminate it.
In my opinion the egr will not cause any issues with performance. However headers might cause the engine to run like crap. The egr might keep the engine from having pre ignition if you are in a warm area but that's about it.
If the headers are too large the engine will not run well at all. Stock manifolds are built that way for a reason...also you may have something else wrong.
Lol this was over 5 years ago... But yes it was removed from the back of the throttle body and a block off plate put on. That wasn't the problem. It was just dumb luck that I did the headers and within a couple days of putting them on found the intake leaking and a couple other issues internally, it ended with a motor swap and I sold the truck lol
