It's getting about time for me to get new tires and I'm thinking about going with 33X12.50 tires on my 1994 F150. Are there any negative side effects from doing this by doing some trimming on the front bumper? The truck already has 31X10.50s on it and they clear plenty fine and that's supposedly "too big" for the stock suspension...
on stock suspension, you will definitely have trouble rubbing. i have the 1.5 leveling suspension from rough country (http://www.roughcountry.com/ford_2wd..._leveling.html) with 33x12.5 tires on 15x10 series 99 pro comp rims with a backspace of 3.75". i had to trim the bumper a little, only rubbing i have is very slight rubbing on the rear inner wheel well, only when reversing. beside the rubbing, you will also notice a little bit of a mileage drop.
31's aren't too big, but 33's are. You will have to move the bumper out, it will rub at full lock, and if you do any off-roading, don't expect those tires to clear the body at full compression. Plus it will look really goofy with those big tires on it without a lift.

i have almost stock setup with the 33's. like i said i have the 1.5" leveling, not much but does something. and yes, it does look pretty goofy. if you want your truck to look top notch.. i wouldnt go with the 33's. these tires were given to me as a graduation gift, i needed new tires desperately so i worked with what i had.
I dont want to do a lift kit because long term for me it's a waste of money because I want to replace this IFS axle with a solid axle... Well I guess if it looks bat **** retarded I'll go with some BFgoodwrench ATs 31X10.50, those look pretty good.

yeah if you dont plan on lifting it i would just keep it on 31s. it'll look better.
You know what... I changed my mind. I'm going to go with 33s. After looking at the truck hard. The tires arnt really going to stick out any... The current tires are inside the fenderwells.... Not sticking out at all... And how would look stupid with tires sticking out .5-1 inch... Yea, I'm going with 33X12.5s...
I think you are going to need a 2 inch leveling kit for 33 inch tires.
For the bumper just get longer bolts with spacers/washers to space it out.
Here is what mine looked like with 2 inch coil spacers and 33x12.5x15 Bfgoodrich all terrain on 8 inch wide rims.( it has 6 inch lift and 35's now)
Personally I would keep the 31 10.50 tires. I would suggest getting 32 11.50, if you just have to have bigger tires. They look good on a non lifted 4wd with stock wheels. It works well. You didn't say what engine you have. Also, larger tires will affect performance and fuel economy.
I ended up going with a Medalist all terrain 32X11.50 tires. They look and ride great. It has a 4.9 I6 in it and driving it home (40 miles) it got relatively the same fuel economy (bad) and still had just as much get up and go... Not a huge change.
That looks really good with the new shoes. Where did you get those Sport King AT tires? I haven't seen them in a long time. I like the color of your truck by the way. Is that a Weatherguard tool box? Those are nice.
I'd definitely ditch the light bar on top. It looks way overdone, and I bet the alternator can't even keep up with all the lights anyway. I also think that replacing the front push bar with the one that actually protects the grille and doesn't hang down low would be a huge improvement. Either way, I would get some lights that you can use on the street for it.

well the headache rack could stay (maybe) but the lights uugh get rid of them all, poor truck...if you need somethin on front id suggest a true push bar that protects the grill and mount one or two lights to that that can be used on the road safely, the current light set up looks a bit over done honestly...at least take some off, most you should need is maybe four two on top two in front...other then that love the truck
The gen 3 alternator I put in there keeps up fine if I dont run the AC. With the AC on it tends to bog down a little but I still have yet to have a problem out of it. I've been happy with it thus far.
The tool box is just a cheap Kobalt toolbox that I got second hand.
I'm not a fan of any on the market brush guards or bullbars... They're junk and all for looks IMO.
I got the tires from a small shop in metro Atlanta that my families been buying tires from for about 20 years.
Just on another note, if you've ever rode in a truck at night with 800 watts of light. You'd know just how overkill it is and that's how I like things... Over kill. I like being able to light up everything in my line of sight.
