Hello everyone! I've had a 2002 F-250 7.3 in the past (which I loved by the way), but now have a 97 F-350 w/ a 7.3 and with the older truck, comes new challenges. I hope to get help and offer help with FTE. My first real challenge is that sometimes I will floor it and it seems as though the turbo is not working at all. This truck should haul !@# when floored, but it doesn't do much of anything. I thought maybe the fuel filter, but the rpm jumps way up, and it doesn't sputter or act like it's starving for fuel, so I have doubts about that theory. Any ideas anyone? I hope to return the favor soon.
Experts will chime in but could be bad MAP sensor not detecting boost. Unplug it and see if it performs better. Grey box, passenger side on firewall. CEL will come on, but will go back off when plugged in. I think it puts the computer into a default mode. Also could be trans slippage, but I doubt it.
97 PSD Loss of Power
Thanks guys. I have already unplugged the turbo and it didn't do anything different. After after driving it yesterday however, It reminded me of something. In my 2002 PSD I used an Edge Programmer which showed me Cam Position Sensor faults repeatedly and it had very similar problems that this one is having. My guess is that it's that little charm. Shifts real hard, sometimes has power, sometimes not, all the tell tale signs of a CMP. For $23 it's difinitely worth a shot. I'll let everyone know.

Hope it works out for you. Keep us updated.
CMP 97 7.3 PSD
No luck on the Cam Position Sensor. Still has power fluctuations and shifts hard sometimes. This may sound funny, but I wonder if the temperature would have anything to do with it? My temp guage is reading low, which tells me I might have a bad thermostat. Does anyone know if a low temp would have anything to do with a turbo not functioning properly? Just grasping at straws right now.
