Bilstein steering stabilizer

Hey all,

I did search first. Does this Bilstein steering stabilizer fit in the location pictured below? Not sure if that bracket on the steering is O.E. or aftermarket like the stabilizer now. I know I can move that bracket on the steering to make up for length and some pics I've found looks like the stabilizer has the correct ends, I just want to verify. Thanks.

Here's the Bilstein I'm looking at,

The Bracket looks like mine, so the answer would be yes.
I like the bilstein, smoother than the Rancho. Maybe you could have others take a pic of the oem bracket and post for you.

Nah, I believe you. I'm sure it will work. And the mighty Amazon can have it to me in two days. I'd like to have all new shocks before RRE. Thanks for the reply.

OK, the Bilstein came in and as I was getting ready to install I noticed this thing is pressurized like their regular shock. Seems to me this would constantly be pushing the steering to the driver's side. Holding off on the install until I figure this out. I thought their stabilizer was suppose to be neutral hydraulic.

Every steering stabilizer I've bought and installed was neutral. I would contact Bilstein. Honestly I don't see spending Bilstein money on a steering stabilizer. Last stabilizer I bought was a Monroe from Rockauto for a whopping $27.

I've always had good luck with Bilstein and wanted all to match. I'm weird like that. This is missing the washer and nut for the stud side and there's no boot. Normally I don't run boots but as low as this thing is I don't want the shaft getting chipped. Not worried about filling the boot with water too much either.

I get the everything matching disease. I'm the same way with some things too. Never ran a boot on a steering stabilizer. They usually get whacked and need replacing before the shaft wears any. If you want a boot maybe check out summit or fleabay for a universal boot that will work.

I installed it anyway and test drove it. Seem to steer fine, no pressure. I guess the Dana 50 axle and 35" tires may have something to do with keeping it neutral. Thanks for the replies.

Good news Mike, when I installed mine I had a very slight pull to the left. I should have warned you, sorry about that. When I had the Ex aligned that went away.

Don't know if tech compensated on alignment or not but tires are wearing normal with no additional heat on any side of the tires. (don't know if I explained that right). But I think you will know what Iam talking about.

Anyway, glad it worked for you... To me it was night and day ( smoother) than the Rancho.

Forgot to ask Did you get the 5100 series?

It's the only stabilizer listed. I think it is the 5100 series just not valved as stiff.

So did you have pull to the left before the stabilizer install or after? Was it an alignment issue or the stabilizer pushing it? Hard to believe this cylinder could do that but an old school yellow Bilstein did on my old '81 Toyota back in the day.

We leave at 'o dark 30 for RRE so if it starts pulling I'll swap the stocker back on at a rest stop.

I just installed a 5100 series bilstein on my 05. I did not have any pull either. I too suffer from the matching disease. Is there a cure?? Lol

Mike, before installing the stabilizer I had a very mild drift to the left. After installing stabilizer I noticed that the drift was more noticable. I figured with the design of the bilstein pushing itself open that was just enough to really make the drifting more pronounced.

When I went in for the alignment I did mention this to the tech. After alignment all was good.
