I would start with checking the lines then run a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is when and when it is not acting up
I just finished testing fuel flow. I disconnected the fuel line between the tanks and carb, attached a hose and hooked up a clear bottle, started the engine and gas flowed like no tomorrow, tested both tanks, so there's no issue with fuel delivery or carb.
Now I'm very suspicious of either the coil or pick up inside the dist. I would like to change the pick up but don't know how.

Check your coil first.
This testing procedure is valid for most automotive coils. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the side terminals of the coil. Do this with all of the wires to the coil disconnected. You should see 0.75 to 0.81 ohm of resistance. Then check the resistance between either side terminal and the center high tension terminal. The reading should be 10,000 to 11,000 ohms. Any significant deviation from these numbers would indicate that the coil is defective.
Problem located and solved. The center terminal on the distributor cap was loose. I put the multmeter on it and wiggled it, the meter was bouncing all over the place. Replaced cap and rotor, now it runs perfect........check your terminals!!
UPDATE.....still experiencing cutting out but only during high outside temps. Further inspection revealed badly corroded terminals from dist. pickup coil to socket. I cleaned them and applied dielectric grease where there was none before. Drove it extensively and could not duplicate the problem. Hope I got it this time!
