my 1997 7.3 dual tank f350 has me a little worried...
When running on my rear tank the last two times, when the fuel gauge reads just under a 1/4, and I am running at highway speed, the truck has started to sputter and loose power. The first time it happened (for about 15 seconds) there was little throttle response when I attempted to give it fuel. I made it to the side of the road, turned off the truck, switched tanks, cranked her back up and everything was fine after 2-3 seconds.
The second time was on my way to work tonight. About 1/4 fuel in rear tank and at highway speed, she started to sputter and loose power. This time, I just flipped the tanks and she regained power. Ran another 20 miles into work and have had no additional issues.
Just wondering what might be the cause?
Thank you for your patience with me as I am learning and, as always, thank you for your assistance!
yup that happened to me. mine pickup tube cracked up the side so after i hit about 1/4 tank it would start sucking in air. when i switch tanks it went away. so i dropped the tank, cut out the pick up tube and installed stainless steel tubing in place of it. this was also a good time to swap in the bronco tank and do the filler neck mod
