when cold starts then stops

i have 2000 F250 7.3 has alot of miles but runs great once it starts. My problem is when its cold in morning(even in the summer) it starts and runs for about 5 seconds then quits, just like it runs out of fuel. Crank it over for about 2 minutes then its starts and runs fine and will start fine the rest of the day.It has new starter, batteries, crank sensor, fuel filter. Does aneone have any ideas???? Thanks

Welcome to FTE. How much is "alot of miles"? Try plugging the truck in for a few hours and see if it starts better cold that way. That's a cheap easy test to try.

How long have you had the vehicle? How often is the oil changed? Is the oil level full? How long has it been doing this? Has it been getting worse? While you're cranking and trying to start, is there any smoke coming out the tail pipe? Have you ever replaced the fuel injectors?

Yes it does smoke when cranking ,fresh 5-40 synthetic oil, just purchased truck from company i work for. i seen all service records since NEW. It has had 2 injectors changed and a new High pressure oil pump put in within last year. Truck has 350000 miles. Tried plugging block heater in no help.

Sounds like your LPOP is bad. Next cold start, keep an eye on your oil pressure gauge and let us know if it shows pressure while cranking or once the engine starts.

And you left the block heater plugged in for a few hours before trying? That will sometimes help if it's worn injectors. We've seen a rash of bad reman HPOP's here lately so that's something to keep in mind just in case.

You could always pull the valve covers and watch for oil discharge out of each injector while cranking. They all should be spitting the same amount of oil. If you've only got a few spitting oil then the other ones aren't trying to fire.

And I'm not sure that's a lot of miles. I've got more than that on my 02
