New Tires

So, I get this email from work stating that the company I work for has purchased some new pickups, and I can purchase the takeoff tires, since they want something other than OEM.

The tires are: Firestone Transforce HT LT245/75R17 LRE.

(pay no attention to the web site name, the web site is for illustrative purposes only)

Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more

Get this, I can buy 4 of these tires for $100 plus $5 tax.

From everything I have read, the Transforce is a replacement for the Steeltex. I used to have a set of Firestone Steeltex on my '97 GMC 1/2 ton, and I got 78,000 miles out of those babies. When I went to buy another set years later, the tire store told me Firestone quit making them. I can see why.

According to our company policy, they will sell these tires in sets of four. There are 20 tires total. I need six for my DRW. Even if I have to buy 8 tires, I only pay $210, the cost of one of these tires at normal retail price. Sounds too good to be true.

Does any one have any experience with this tire? Any info would be helpful.
