I have a 2010 350 with stock ( I believe they are 265-70-17) tires. The truck is in the driveway but I don't feel like getting up. They are the stock Continental tires, and my god, what garbage. The truck has 12,000 miles on it and the rear tires are approaching a dangerous level. I do not beat my truck by any means, and it is usually used by my wife to pull a horse trailer. I have the stock 5.4 in her so I probably couldn't spin the tires if I wanted to. I really love the way BFG A/T's look on these trucks and I was looking for advice from people who have this setup. How is the drive with these tires? Is fuel economy affected with this setup? I couldn't imagine how it could get any worse, ahahah. I am also going to go a few sizes up, what size does everyone recommend to give the truck a better stance. I am not looking for a monster truck stance, just something a little beefier looking. Any advice would be appreciated.
I am shopping around for new tires in 19.5 size. I bought the truck 5 years ago with beaten up Hancock tires (previous owners had to drive it a lot over AZ rocky roads). I put over 70,000 miles since than and the thread is still legal. So looks like those tires last well over 100,000 miles and I tow heavily.
Would love to buy the same tires, but
1. they cost lot of $$$
2. I hope I will not have to drive may truck that much anymore, so 100,000 might be good for 20 years. They would age before wear out.
Local tire shop, that I have been using for 20 years recommend several Chinese brands. I bought 2 of Chinese tires for front over a year ago and they do show like 50 % wear out.
Still it is the same dilemma what we have choosing diesel v/s gas engine. Pay more up front and enjoy for long time, or pay less up front and have to pay again later.
I have the Cooper Discoverer ATR's on my F250 PSD and I love them, had them on my previous truck too. I think they wear better than the BFG A/T's and are cheaper too. I got mine from mavistire.com for $213 a piece for 275/70-R18 load range E
I can get the BFG AT installed and balanced and local tires shop for $950 out the door. I am stubborn in my ways and I want nothing but BFG AT's. I just love the way they look, and they get nothing but great reviews.
Well than really why are you asking for advice if thats what you really want. I guess the fuel mileage you will or wont get and other peoples thoughts and experiences dont matter since your as you say stubborn and all you want are those over priced and high maintence BFG's, I say go get em tiger!!!

Likewise, I love them! Great all around tire. I'm running 325/60/18's and it gives the truck a really nice stance. Its an 07 though. If I had to get a road tire it would be a Michelin LTX MS 2.
Take it easy gernest. My post stated that I wanted to get the BFG AT's and was wondering what other people thought of these tires on this truck, and recommendations on what size to get to give the truck a bit of a stance. I never asked for advice on what brand tire to get. And not to try to pick a fight any further, but what do you mean by high maintenance? I've never had to "maintain" a tire in my life. And I posted the price I can get the BFG's not to rub it in your face that they really aren't that much more, but because I love my local tire shop and wanted to do some bragging about their prices. the BFG's from a big name tire shop would no doubt be in the $1,200 range.
I run 285 BFG's on mine. Absolutely love them. I am on my second set and my dad is on his third. They are a great all around tire. They are pricey but I think they are well worth it.
I notice no noise with mine at all. I have had a few different tires in the past and these are no louder then the next. I also have not noticed any mileage lost. I did notice a drop when I had my 305 BFG's but nothing with the 285's.
Mine have been pretty good. I have them in 285's on 16" rims. The noise isn't bad at all. One does have a big nasty crack in it that looks like a rock crack. The problem is I dont recall hitting a rock...
The tread hasn't held up as well as I'd like it too, but I haven't found a tire that does. Some day I'll find a tire that lasts me more than a year...
This is a no brainer. Falken Rocky Mountains are the tires you want. Aggressive tread but quiet. They hook good. Discount tire sells them. They put everything else to shame and you can NOT beat the price.
