AOD trouble shifting

about to pick up a 1991 f150 4x4. apparently when hot the transmission wont shift out of second gear. apparently it doesn't slip or anything, just when warmed up it doesn't want to leave second. thanks in advance.

hmm thats odd. never herd of that problem before. AOD is not computer controled to my understanding so i dont think that would be a problem, there is a TV cable that runs to the intake by the thorttle cable mayby out of whack but if thats the case it would do it hot or cold i would do it hot or cold.

that's the only idea i had was the tv cable. but as you mentioned it would do it cold as well. if it comes to it, i do have a newly rebuild 2wd aod that i could take and have tailshafts switched in, but i'd like to try and fix this one as it is.

These aods shift by line pressure don't they? Perhaps not enough line pressure for 3-4? But there again cold or hot.

Apparently I mis-understood. It shifts fine into second gear, but doesn't shift any further.
