Quick Question About Fuel Pumps
The fuel pump on my 93 recently went out, and i'm wondering if there is a particulair brand or model that anyone would reccomend I get or stay away from. I had the unit replaced several years ago when it went out on me out in the middle of nowhere, but I won't know what brand it is until I get it out. A motorcraft one is basically off the table for me since they are at least twice the cost of other respectable (bosh, delphi, etc) brands.

i know its not what you might want to hear but ive done 4 ford pumps in different vehicles and have all ways stuck with ford parts, i just think fuel pumps suck to do so i pay the extra. i did one in my cousins ranger that wasnt bad but he bought some crappy one from zep boys..a year later we had to do it again,

Quick correct answer, Get your Ford Fuel pump from the Ford Dealer.
Mine lasted 150,000 miles before it acted up, didn't leave me out on the end of the trail either, but it just wouldn't let me race home for the last 70 miles. But I made it home.
And of course Ford re-engineered the fuel pump so I had to solder in the new connectors.
I expect the new pump to last another 20 years and 150,000 miles,

Yeah it's the pump. I have a good ground and good power to it. It will work for a short time and then cuts out on you going down the road. It won't work again until it's cooled down overnight. It registers a KOEO code of 542. I tried switching around the relays, hooking ground directly to the pump circuit on the diagnostic connector, etc. It's got some kind of intermittent issue inside the tank. I'll be on the lookout for an obviously broken connection either on top of the tank or inside it, but i'm not going to hold my breath on that one.
