Checked My Users Control Panel / Albums and found the folder with the pics in it marked as private. Changed it to public, still didn't work. Made new gallery, reposted pics, hope pics are showing now.
This pic of the sand that came out of my radiator drain is in the same folder.

difference seems to be climate control

I installed one myself and now know for sure I also did it wrong. Yes it did LOOK perfect in that location. I'm betting about 25% of these installs were done wrong as the kit is so simple who would bother to READ. Seems to be 2 different situations. If you have a cheaper truck with no automatic climate control there is no inline doo hicky valve to worry about. I installed mine on the firewall side of the hose. Therefore mine will only filter the coolant when the trucks heater is calling for warm coolant. Well that's not such an issue up here in Saskatchewan Canada. We only have 2 seasons. July and gosh darn cold. I have changed the filter twice and got about a spoon full of crud out of each filter when I cut them open to satisfy my curiosity. So I know the unit is doing something. Now when it starts to warm up a bit (May long weekend) what is the best way to correct my booboo.

I could splice in a plumbing piece (pecs connector) but I worry about creating yet another place to create leaks. Now for about the same price, would a incorrect install be better fixed by replacing the length of heater hose which I stooooopidly destroyed. I'd walk out to by back lean to and lift the hood and ponder, but its minus 29 right now and the snows 4 feet deep in my back yard. The truck will come out of storage about May 1. And I want protection during the hot weather too.

Whats the vote? And Rusty what did you do after you were enlightened?

The heater valve is still there on trucks with manual climate control.

I just had another evil brain fa*t

If you are running a Ford diesel that was not factory equipped with automatic temperature climate control,,,,, there is no automatic valve. Therefore only the drivers settings tell when to pass or block coolant flow. Follow my thought here? So those owners would only get filtration during cab warming. Not during those long hot winter months my wealthy friends are enjoying while laying about in Arizona right now!!!!!

Thoughts on that one????

Hmm, I do seem to have a Ford truck with a Navistar diesel. My Ford also does not have automatic climate control. I do have a valve on the heater line.

I just bought a Prestone "flush and fill" kit and put the T in the line where I made the incorrect cut. I knew I wanted to do some flushing in the near future and it made another good place to connect a hose. No worries so-far.

Just my 2cents but I think you're on the right track also with waiting to fix it. With the cold weather and heat on you are filtering.

As a new 6.0 owner myself, I have found youtube.com
9and this forum) to be a very helpful site when working on my truck. I am a visual person so when I installed my Sinister Diesel coolant filter kit, I used this video from youtube to help me. The guy that did it did a very good job and it helped me to get it installed on the correct side.

Well I know I got one thing right.....I did mine wrong! Rusty, the prestone flush kit is the perfect answer. I waded through the snow yesterday and lifted my hood. There seems to be some kind of mystery connection Waaayyyy up and under the heater box. Now way I'm diggin into that mess. I have installed one of the prestone units on my V8 powered jet boat and seem to remember it having a distinct angle to the unit. Hopefully they also have a straight trough option. Also hope the plastic can stand up to the sky high heat under the 6.0 hood. A brass barbed 3/4 hose connector might be a better option.

This is only a suggestion, but don't forget to change/upgrade your rad cap when you do this install.
